During my last keystroke of The Perdition, and before the release of The Black Cell, I was developing a novel to kickstart what I hope to be a series of spin-off novels, which I’ve labeled as The Virion Strains, to further explore the world of Virion circa 2475AD. New characters, strange journeys, and a secret to tie them all together. These stories will explore ideas and events I unfortunately couldn’t squeeze into the initial series such as the CRYPTYK Uprising, The Second Dark Age, and even the Solar War. The first of these novels, currently titled The Screaming Village will feature several familiar faces as well as some new.

Set just one month after the insurrection in Freedom City, a rogue Naval black ops unit is tracking a missing asset with seemingly supernatural abilities. But the unit soon finds themselves hunted by this maniacal weapon, a female super soldier whose mind is lost to ideas of revenge and bloodlust. With more of a cyberpunk-horror tone, we’ll encounter much more than creepy mutants this time around.

With 2 drafts done, and the smallest of details being perfected, it was a fun project to pen. As I get closer to release, I’ll be sure to add new details and maybe even excerpts from my favorite parts of the book. Until next time!
